Geocaching

If you have ever dreamt about hunting for treasure, you might be surprised to learn that there are nearly 2,000 hidden treasures within a 50-mile radius of Stroudsburg. If you\'ve been to Wal-Mart in East Stroudsburg, you have walked near hidden treasure without knowing it.

Thousands of people across the country are hunting for and hiding treasures through geocaching. Still in its infancy, geocaching is a well organized sport. It was developed in May of 2000, shortly after the U.S. government improved personal GPS reception. ....

Local enthusiasts Kathy Sadowski, known as StellerScape in the geochaching world, and her daughter, 12-year-old Michelle, of Stroud Township in about two years have found more 300 nearby geocaches and hidden a number of them as well.

News ::  Geocaching Card Game is now available
Posted by bugcandy on 2006/9/4 9:52:23 (703 reads)

Press Release for all Geocachers!

First card game about Geocaching is for sale!

“First To Find!” (“FTF!”), the first card game based on the international GPS sport, Geocaching, has been released from production and is now for sale online at www.ftfcardgame.com or on in the In-Gear Store if you click here - Groundspeak Store - \\\"First to Find!\\\".

“FTF!” is a family-friendly, two to four person treasure-hunting-themed card game that can be played in 15-30 minutes. The game has been designed to capture the excitement of the family sport, Geocaching, using stunning and vivid illustrations. The game can also be used as a regular deck of cards and comes in a blue collector\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s tin.

Object of the Game: “FTF!” features cards suited to the seasons - fall, spring, summer, and winter. Players then use a combination of Gear (e.g. bug spray), Movement (e.g. 4x4), and Obstacle (e.g. spider webs) cards to out-trick other players and race to become the first person to find the cache.

Independent game outfit, Solid Wood Productions, LLC, created and pitched the game idea to Groundspeak, parent company of the Geocaching.com site. Groundspeak granted Solid Wood Productions the license to produce the official card game for the increasingly popular sport, finding it to be a great product for the Geocaching community. Ryan Thiegs led the development of the card game in partnership with artist Eric Smith.

The game retails on Geocaching.com for $9.95.

Visit www.ftfcardgame.com to see the card artwork or visit www.Geocaching.com to buy the “FTF!” card game.

Contact: For more information, please contact Eric Thiegs at eric@ftfcardgame.com
